Fredette E. Cash, 95, passed peacefully at her home in Dalton on Sunday, September 28th surrounded by her children. She was born January 28, 1930 to Hazel and Clyde House in a small house in Hagerstown on Factory Street.
She attended school in Dalton, Millville and graduated from Hagerstown in 1948. She worked at various businesses in Hagerstown before going to work at Perfect Circle, where she met her husband, Kenny. They were married Feb. 11, 1951. She retired from there (Dana Corp). After retirement she watched her grandkids, traveled with her husband, and began a long career of volunteering. She helped get the Nettle Creek Senior Center started, and served in many roles, including Chairman of the Board. She also was active in the Brethren Disaster Relief. She traveled to Florida and New Orleans after hurricanes Charlie and Katrina, to provide childcare while parents were busy filing paperwork with FEMA. She was active in White Branch Church and was a fixture at their Chicken Dumpling Dinner.
She is survived by: 3 of her children, Susie Phillips (Kenny) of Greens Fork, Jim Cash, (Jenny) of Dalton, and Gail Chew (Doug) of New Lisbon; grandchildren, Cari McCormack, Amber Chew, Dustin Chew, Joshua Cash, Jared Cash, Billy Phillips, and Amanda Phillips; several great grandkid; 2 siblings, Caralou Poore and Jerry House. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenny Cash; siblings Fred House, Bud House, and Rae Ellen Webb; her daughter, Kennetha Watts and 3 grandchildren, Sunshine McKendree, Jamie Cash, and Travis Phillips.
Visitation will be 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, October 4, at White Branch Church. Services will follow at 1 PM. Burial will be in Brick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to White Branch Church or Mahili pa Maisha infant rescue. Please visit www.culbersonfh.com to express condolences and share memories.
