Hi Shirley:
Fred was such an awesome man. I met you both when I was just 7 years old going to sunday school with the Coke Family. After losing my grandfather just the year before, Fred was like a surrogate grandfather. He was always such a sweet man. It meant so much to me after moving away at age 13 for you both to still make the trip to my wedding almost 6 years ago. I love you both so much and will always have a special place in my heart for the two of you. Take care and know that you and Fred both have touched so many lives, including mine.

Shirley, dear - we know you are missing this wonderful man, who always had a smile for everyone - even when you knew he didn't feel well and was gasping for breath- BUT, he is breathing heavenly air now, enjoying the friends who have gone before and is at total peace in the place that God has prepared for him! I hope you read Rev. Don Piper's account of his 90 Minutes in Heaven and are encouraged to know just how wonderful heaven really is!!! I can't wait to get there to see Fred!!! We love you, and will pray for God's special comfort to you at this time!

Even as a child at Calvary Christian School in Yorba Linda, I knew there was something special about Fred. What a wonderful man in the Lord he was and what a heritage and legacy he has left.

Shirley we know the coming days are going to be difficult for you without Fred. Please always remember you are never alone, Jesus promised He would never leave us or forsake us and those are great words that give us all a great hope. It sounds funny to say but there is something comforting when someone you know goes home to be with the Lord. Maybe it has something to do with that future day when we shall all be together again. It’s a wonderful hope we have to be in Christ and today Fred is living that hope in His presence. Marilyn and I send our love and prayers.

We will always remember Fred with a smile and a kind word. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. He once said to me "Donn, anybody can be a Smith or a Jones but it takes a real man to be a Schmuck".He will be missed, especially for his service to our Lord. But we KNOW where he is! With our love,
Donn and Linda Buzby

Shirley and Family, what can we say that hasn't already been said? Fred was a wonderful man. The proof in is the legacy he left behind and his reward is what he is enjoying now in heaven. We are thankful we knew him here on earth and looking forward to seeing him again in heaven.

Dear Shirley and all of your loved ones;

There is so much that I could say about Fred and how the two of you blessed my life, as well as that of Jack and Jack Glen. I have so many, many precious memories of our early days together with East Hills Baptist Church; Sunday mornings and evenings, board meetings, retreats, seminars and all of the weddings, baptisms and parties in your home at the top of the hill….precious memories…all of them. Fred made everyday of his life count for the Lord. As the apostle Paul said, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain”….Fred is with His Lord.
Shirley, God Bless you always…Luv ya, Phyl

To my dear friend, Shirley. I just want you to know how I have treasured your and Fred's friendship since 1976 when I went to work at Fluidmaster.
I'm so grateful that God led me to envite you and Fred to a Musical at Melodyland,(one of many) where Fred walked down the isle and accepted Jesus as his Saviour, when the invitation was given.
I was so happy when he called and ask me to do the books for Brea Baptist Church. You have both been such a blessing to me. Thank you for the wonderful meals we have shared through the years, we will miss Fred, but his leaving us has made Heaven even richer and some day
we will see him again, in Heaven.
I do love and appreciate you Shirley, Loveta

Imagine my surprise when I saw a picture of Fred on a video kiosk presentation of Orange County entrepreneurs on display at Chapman University's business school a while back. I was so excited to tell my co-workers, "I know that guy! He goes to my church!" Fred and I talked about it a couple of months ago and it was typical of him to minimize any sense of legacy that he may have made in OC business but, clearly, independent analysis has determined otherwise. But the greatest significance and legacy that I know about extends beyond what anyone at Chapman is likely to discover in a simple review of movers and shakers in the realm of business. I know about the Fred who made a lasting mark in this world and the next for his contributions to a loving church family who admired him. We may never know all that Fred gave in time and resources in service to his Lord, some of it in the company of his tireless wife, but instinctively we know that it was plenty.

Fred has been like a father to me the last few years. We joked about him adopting me. I will miss Fred, but know that I will meet with him in heaven. Fred and Shirley have been faithful, kind and encouraging to me. They have been included me in their family and I will forever be grateful.

Dear Shirley,
I did not know Fred as well as others, but what I did see was a very Godly man. He was always so caring, giving, compassionate and happy.I saw first hand how he influenced their lives and touched mine. From his seeds of kindness, happiness grew... Fred made many lives more special !!! One thing I saw over and over again, was his Love and concern for his family ~~~~~~ On a Sunday morning I would see his grandkids sitting by his side in church and the LOVE would just radiate from each other.I would have to say that God would say~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"WELL DONE MY SON..."
Fred, will be missed !!! Just as he has touched our lives, many will pass on that something special and will touch others, because of Fred!

God Bless you and your family,
Love,

You and Fred have never spared a hug or a kiss from either Ian or myself when we were just getting started in CA. I will forever be grateful to you and Fred for that compassion to the "new" kids.

It's hard to believe that Fred is gone. Through all the years that I've known him it seemed like he never changed. It was always a pleasure to be around him and he always had something nice to say about me or my kids. It was great to see the way that he treated Shirley and to see a man that was so dedicated and devoted to helping out his church. He will definately be missed by not just his biological family but his church family also.

Fred was such a genuine, generous, loving person. We will miss him so very much. He had such a positive impact on all my children and grandchildren. I would like to see a room or some portion of our new building dedicated to Fred. He was very instrumental in making the new building happen. Our love and prayers are with you, Shirley and all the family.

Fred was a faithful man whose sincerity, honesty, and passion for God will always be remembered and inspire me. I miss the "howdy!" he'd give me every morning when I came in. Someday we'll see him again and I look forward to it.

Stacie and I and Jeremy and all the rest of our family have been beneficiaries of Fred Schmuck's goodness and greatness. I am thankful for such a wise friend and counselor. I can't imagine having pastored this wonderful church without Fred. He was successful in every way imaginable, but he not only found great success in life, but also significance. Significance comes when a person touches others and helps them on the road of life. Fred did that with wonderful style, a great smile, a great heart, and a great love for God. We will miss him so much; and we will also look forward to spending eternity with him in heaven. He has called for the "MEETING TO BE ADJOURNED" here, but it has just been called to order up there. Fred we love you brother. We'll take care of Shirley for you, and always thank God that you were such a part of our lives.

I did not know Fred well. I do know that those who speak about him say what a brilliant and wonderful man he was all his life. And, I know how much Shirley will miss her beloved husband. Shirley is a gentle and sweet woman who loved one of God's children. What a blessing to know they will one day be together again because they both loved Jesus. In His everlasting Love.

What can I say...Fred was a great man. He probably never knew what an encouragement he was to Jay and myself. He was always kind to us and to our children. All three of our children were in his and Shirley's Sunday School class at one time or another and they left a lasting impression. Someone like Fred you think will be around forever. It is hard to imagine life without him. Goodbye my friend. Thank you so much for being a part of our lives. See you again someday.

Fred and Shirley have always been very loving and encouraging to me and my entire family. It is because of them that we are in this church today! They taught our son’s Sunday school class when we first visited the church and their love for him was so impacting! I will miss Fred sitting on the back row at church... always willing to give an encouraging word and make me feel so loved. His love will live on in our hearts and our church for a long time! Thank you, Fred…

Fred was a great man to be remembered and missed. He left a lasting impression on so many people's lives. I am so happy he knew God and Jesus' redeeming grace. We know he is in paradise now. Fred was always around at church, willing to help and answer questions. He was a great guy to just sit down and have a long conversation with. He cherished Shirley so much!
