Gabriel "Gabe" DiBruno Obituary
Gabriel Dean DiBruno, age 16, of Shelby, NC passed away on May 19, 2022. He was the son of Dominic and Anastasia Taormina.
Gabe leaves behind his sister and brothers, Kayla DiBruno, Ethan DiBruno, Evan DiBruno, Dominic Taormina and Zackary Taormina. He was a sophomore of Shelby High School, where he had many friends and was involved in the welding program. In his free time, Gabe enjoyed fishing, playing video games, skateboarding and anything having to do with cars. His favorite car was a Toyota Supra. He had many friends in life and was loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services for Gabe will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 6 PM at Elizabeth Baptist Church of Shelby, NC with Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. Family will receive friends following the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The One More One Less Project: 219 Windsor Drive, Shelby, NC, 28150.

Although we only met him once, Gabe was such a positive and old soul. The light that shined in his eyes when he laughed was so beautiful and memorable. Everyone wishes the best for Uncle Dom and Aunt Stacy. Please know that our love is with all of you.

We met Gabe on a family vacation to Michigan, a few years ago. A beautiful free spirit, full of joy, with big dreams, and mischief too. We loved him the moment we met him. He was full of life and fun to be with. Our hearts are broken hearing his dreams were cut short. Regardless, he made his mark on many hearts and lives. Leaving us better for having been a part of his. Our condolences go out to all you who loved him as we did.

Gabe, you were such a joy to know. Some people have that special “it” quality. A quality that goes beyond just being dashingly handsome, smart, and an excellent athlete. You have it. Everyone who knew you saw it. You practiced kindness and humility, while at the same time went through life with a confidence that was infectious. It was my distinct honor to work with youtalk to you about your dreams and futureand of course fishing. Whatever it was we talked about, I remained impressed with your demeanor, kindness, sense of humor, and maturity. You knew more about fishing than anyone I know. I will not be able to fish, or even think about fishing without thinking about you. I regret that we won’t be able to finally go fishing together like we talked about. I would have learned so much more with an in-person lesson! In a profession where I have met many children, you were and will remain a standout. You were what people should all aspire to be, a perfect brother, son, and friend. My heart aches and your earthly family is grieving the loss of your earthly body, but I know you are with the Lord now. I know you will be an angel on our shoulder. You meant so much to so many. I remember the first time we met at Camp together we shared many memories together. I remember when you would motivate me to jump off the jumping deck into the water. I remember when we would make jokes at night in the cabin while the others would play Uno. I remember When we were at our cores one night during a powerful service and you would put your hand on my shoulder and we would cry together as if we were brothers and you we're to me. You were the best of friends I could ever have and some day we’ll fish together and just talk like we once did.

Everyone who met Gabe loved him. He was kind, giving, considerate, polite, funny I could go on and on. Every time I see a skateboard or fishing rod I’ll think of him. I’ll miss our serious talks about your red hair and how long it was getting, you showing me all 500 fishing rods and tackle boxes you had and your cool gaming set up. I’ll miss seeing the love in your eyes when you talked about your siblings. Your life was so short but you touched so many. Thank Gabe for allowing me to be a part of your life. Lord ham mercy I am still in shock I remember the first I meet Gabe it's was a few years ago which I start attend Salvation Army Church he was so polite and sweet and a loving person always had a smile on his face and so much respect fir his self I remember one time he ask me was I okay and say no he says Prayer Bridgitt and give to God and h see will fix for you but I know in my heart that he with God and he had God in his life so I know he with God looking down and smiling I will you and but never forgotten you in my heart ❤

Gabe was such a joy to teach and work with. His enthusiasm for learning and desire to do well was an inspiration !! I am so thankful that I got to work with him and know him his 8th grade year at KMMS. Gabe was always polite, respectful, willing to help others and so thoughtful. Gabe felt bad for me because I didn’t have a podium to hold my instructor’s manual - so he made me one . He was so proud and I was so impressed !! He would always come into class with notes from Mr. McDonald’s Social Studies class and say- “I’ve studied so hard, will you please quiz me?” Most of the time, I think he scored among the highest in his class !! Gabe definitely made a lasting impression and will always hold a special place in my heart ♥ He talked often of his faith in Jesus. He would even tell others that they needed Jesus so I know that I will see him again one day . Praying for his friends and family

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of our friend and church family member, Gabe. Our chime group and choir was blessed to have him, and the kids enjoyed laughs, wild skateboard rides, and spending time together occasionally at the house. Dom, Anastasia and family,
We are at a loss for words as we share your grief. We offer our deepest condolences and sympathies for the loss of your beloved gift and blessing, Gabriel - the name of an Angel. I know Jesus has called him for a higher purpose. Perhaps to be a heavenly Guardian and Protector of children and teens. The truth and reason will be revealed to us in God’s perfect timing. Find solace that this amazing and much loved kid had a purpose on the earth, and that purpose continues eternally. Take comfort in knowing your United Rentals work family is carrying all who knew and loved Gabe in a chain of prayer. Find comfort that he is with Jesus, living in the promise of faith and eternal glory. Remember. the passing on earth is not final. JESUS took death away when He died on the cross for us. There is eternal glory in the most beautiful place, more beautiful than we can imagine to all who believe. Gabe is rejoicing in Heaven. May God rest his soul and fulfill his divine purpose until you meet again. Until that short time. please know you are loved and cared for by so many. Gabe has touched us all.
