I first met Gabriel in September of 1969. We both lived at the Higginson Hall residence facility at Western Washington State College. I had an apartment on the 3nd floor & he lived on the 4th floor (if I recall correctly). In 1970, the college opened up the Birnham Woods apartments on the south side of campus. Gabriel & I shared an apartment with 2 other students during the 1970-71 school year. I attended summer sessions at the University of Washington in the 1970s. I met Gabriel on several occassions during open swim sessions at the university pool. I landed a summer job with the Washington State Dept of Natural resources in 1970. I recall spending a few summer days in Yakima on a moth inspection survey & visited Gabriel in Wapato. He was working on the flat bed of a truck in the hop fields that summer. On several occassions we shared coffee together at the University of Washington. I recall Gabriel was trying his hand at selling real estate. We drifted apart after college, but I do remember Gabriel's warm & open smile. I am sorry to learn of his passing so late. I appreciate this opportunity to pay this small compliment to a "super guy". It was a pleasure to have known him.
