Gaetan Ouellette Obituary

It's been one month since my dear friend Gaetan has left us. Although saddened by his death, I take comfort in knowing that he did affect so many people's lives. I think of him often and do miss him. My favourite saying of his was, "Life is not a dress rehearsal!". I remember this in my daily life. I have great memories of our time spent together which I will cherish forever. He was truly a very unique individual.

Gaetan was a fellow student in some of my high school classes. While many of us sort of drifted along, Gaetan was aware, engaged and even passionate about whatever topic was up for study.Looking back, it should have been obvious that he would have a positive influence on everyone around him. And, apparently he did. Well done!

Merci pour ton écoute... Pour tes sourires.... Ta sagesse... Ta passion... Pour nos discussions...merci pour tes conseils et ta façon de me dire ce qui n'était pas "correct" en ondes...

Gaëtan ... la bonté et la tendresse incarnées. Tu as été pour moi un appui inestimable, pensant sans cesse à faciliter mon travail. J'étais toujours tellement contente de te voir arriver au studio. Toujours souriant. Un bon mot pour tous. Toujours attentif aux besoins de toutes les personnes que tu rencontrais, tu avais le pouvoir de donner aux gens leur dignité. Repose en paix dans l'amour et dans la joie, mon cher ami. Je t'envoie mes prières. Tu resteras toujours dans mon coeur et je compte sur toi pour continuer à veiller sur nous!!

He was a fantastic human being who cared deeply about others. One my favorite sayings of his is, "Life is not a dress rehersal!" Thank you for everything Gaetan :O)

I am very sad to hear that Gaetan lost his battle with cancer. I was lucky enough to have had him as a French teacher and will miss his quirky sense of humour in the classroom. This note is just to offer my heartfelt sympathies to Gaetan's loved ones. He shared his time and knowledge with so many people over the course of his life -- it's a wonderful legacy.

We are deeply sorry to hear about the death of Gaetan. He was an exceptional man whose earnest desire to express compassion to those in need was evident. His presence will certainly be missed at The Ottawa Mission where he dedicated many hours to volunteering. His impact continues to exist in the lives he has touched.

I offer my sincere condolences to Gaetan's family and close friends. I volunteered with Gaetan at the Ottawa Mission. He made sure all of us were happy, giving us pet names and joking that when he was wearing the black apron, he was in charge. I will miss his wit, warm smile, laughter and his positive attitude. I want his sisters to know that he spoke very fondly of you. My life is fuller having served with Gaetan. God bless!

I am very sad to hear of Gaetan's passing. Not only was he a wonderful man, he was a very dedicated and talented TV production volunteer at our stations in Ottawa(Rogers TV Channel 22, and TV Rogers Channel 23). He will be missed immensely. Our condolences to his family and friends. R.I.P Gaetan.

Nous n'avons pas eu beaucoup de temps ensemble mais nous en avons eu tout de même assez pour apprécier toutes ces belles qualités qui faisaient de vous un homme si attachant.

I was very saddened to hear yesterday of Gaetan's death. I knew him as a fellow volunteer at the Ottawa Mission. Gaetan approached his many interests with great enthusiasm whether it be in his teaching role, as a volunteer with the National Art Gallery, the Mission and the community cable station. I will miss his bright smile and his cheerful spirit. Rest in peace, Gaetan.

I remember Gaetan from my days in the GGFG in the 1970's and well recall his cheerful and helpful disposition. He helped to make the world a brighter place. He'll be missed.

Very sorry for your loss. Gaetan and I served together in the GGFG in the early '70's.

I am so very sad to read of the death of Gaetan. He was a big part of our Friday afternoon crew at The Ottawa Mission and we loved him dearly. May God Rest Your Soul dear friend. You are now at peace in the Lord and we know how much good you will continue to do for our less fortunate friends at The Mission in your new home.

It was really special to know my great uncle and a rather rare experience for him to be alive long enough to know his great great nephew. I am pretty sure that is what he would be called anyways. I am proud to be able to say I got to know him a little and be in his life. R.I.P Uncle. Xavier and I miss you tons xoxo

I am deeply saddened by Gaetan's passing. His " joie de vivre" and wit were part of his special character. Gaetan loved teaching core French to his students at DJPS. It was a pleasure to work with him. I enjoyed the Ottawa visits and will miss his regular phone calls. Gaetan and I will always have a connection. It was Gaetan that introduced me to the French culture and encouraged me to learn the French language. I will never forget the good times we had and what a special person he was.
