Robert Craig Obituary

Robert T. Craig Jr, 81, Ormond Beach, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at his residence. Robert was born October 28, 1925, in New York City, N.Y., to the late Robert T. and Helen (Eden) Craig. Two years later his family relocated to Milwaukee, Wis. While there he attended grade and high school at the Milwaukee County Day School. At the age of 18 he joined the U.S. Navy and served on three destroyers at a variety of locations in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his discharge and with thanks to the GI Bill and Brown University's admissions office, he was admitted and graduated in 1950 with a BA in English. Also in 1950, he married Joan Rene Pickard, who was his constant joy for the next 56 years. Also in 1950, he went to work for the Goodyear Rubber and Tire Copany. Over the next 37 years, he and his family moved 21 times while he was involved in a variety of sales, marketing and profit center respon-sibilities which included being the sales and marketing manager for the motorcycle and bicycle tire division. In 1987 he retired and moved to Ormond Beach. He enjoyed playing poker, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, walking, golfing, tennis and football. Robert is survived by his two daughters, Dr. Linsey C. Willis, Boca Raton, Fla., and Betsy Ann Craig, Morris Plains, N.J.; and his sister, Mary Ann Schneider, Vacaville, Calif. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Robert to the Hospice of Volusia/ Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32119. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
