Garnet Geddes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2008.
Garnet Geddes It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Garnet Geddes, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his seven loving children on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 80 years after a brief illness. Garnet was born on April 26, 1928 in Beadle, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Myrtle Geddes; and brothers, Harold, Earl and Mervyn; grandson, Jesse Schmidt; and former wife and mother of his children, Renne Geddes. He will be lovingly remembered by his seven children: Margaret (Earl) McKnight of Rosetown, Barb (Doug) Ruether of Imperial, Jim (Sherry) Geddes of Camrose, AB, Velma Geddes (Clay Reich) of Moose Jaw, Ruby (Terry) Moser of Airdrie, AB, Susan Geddes (Mike Schmidt) of Kindersley and Rob (Bonnie) Geddes of Creston, BC; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mildred (Harold) Geddes and Betty (Mervyn) Geddes; and numerous nieces nephews and friends. Garnet's greatest joy and pride were his children and grandchildren and they shall miss him very much. Although Garnet slowed down in his later years, he loved the farm, and farming remained forever in his heart. Those who knew Garnet appreciated his wit and humour, his vast knowledge of farming and machinery and his ability to fix anything. Garnet enjoyed fiddling, annual fishing/ camping trips with family and friends and in recent year, meeting for coffee with his friends at the Kindersley mall. A celebration of Garnet's life will be held at the Kindersley Community Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kindersley and District Health and Wellness Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
