Garnet A Young, 96, of Manchester passed away Saturday, December 26, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center at Kenton Pointe. She was born February 20, 1918 in Adams County to the late Harvey and Cora (Francis) Tumbleson. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1990, three brothers, two sisters and her son, Roger "Willy" Young in 2013.
Garnet was a devoted mother and grandmother. She worked at Wrights during the war and retired from Welded Wire after 27 years. She also volunteered in a special needs classroom and was known for her delicious pies and cakes. She was a member of the Manchester Methodist Church and the Order of the Easter Star Nathaniel Massie Chapter 548.
Garnet is survived by her daughter, Susan Young of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Katrina Young of Seaman; a granddaughter, Autumn McCavit of Portsmouth; a grandson Brady (Leigh Ann)Young of Oak Ridge, N.C; three great-grandchildre,: Kaleigh, Chase, Drew Young; and a host of relative and friends.
The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Home for Funerals with Rev. Johnny Greenlee officiating. Burial will follow in Manchester Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Ky. 41056.
