Garnett Bastien

Garnett L. Bastien, age 87, of North Branch died October 24, 2012 Garnett was born June 11, 1925 in Windsor, Ontario. The son of the late Almer and Madeline Bastien. He married Suzanne M. Boilore on September 10, 1949. Garnett proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Dorathea L Dicks and the USS LST 334. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 – Lapeer. He was a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer, and enjoyed golf and bowling, and watching sports on television. He was especially enjoying the Tigers' latest run at the world series. Garnett is survived by his wife Suzanne, Children: Joe (Debbie) Bastien, Dr. Thomas (Mary Jo) Bastien, Marie Lewis, Robert Bastien, Mike Bastien, Melinda Goodwin, Michele (Jerry) Deneen. Siblings: Madelyn Malane and Rodger (Donna) Bastien. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a celebratory mass will be held at a later date. Memorials in memory of Garnett may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or Immaculate Conception Church. He wanted a special thank you to go out to the EMTs of Lapeer County EMS, the wonderful nurses of Hometown Healthcare and Hospice, of Reliant Renal Care, and of McLaren Lapeer Regional Hospital.
