Gadsden - Service for Garnett E. Thomas will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ohatchee with the Rev. John James, Pastor, the Rev. Billy Bedford officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Wellington. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service. Garnett "Weeda" will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Sharon Thomas; children, Garnett III and Jamilla Thomas, of Ohatchee; one grandson, Damonique Thomas, of Ohatchee; mother Lillie Mae Thomas, of Wellington; one sister, Martha Sue Thomas, Wellington; five brothers, Alfonzo Thomas (Mary Ann), Mack Thomas, Wellington, Norris Thomas, of Jacksonville, Billy Ray Thomas (Janice), of Wellington, Standley Thomas (Donna), of Saks; sisters-in-law, Olivia Massey (Michael), of Ragland, Letitia Pickett (Rev. Edward), of Ragland, Sherry Anderson (Harrison), of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Alvin Shows (Valeria), North Carolina; aunts, Sue Ellen Bell, of Anniston and Ella Mae Thomas, of Queens, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Garnett Thomas Sr.; infant daughter; and brother, Johnny Ray Thomas. Gadsden Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
