Garry Irons

Garry Lee Irons, 68, of Colfax Community, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (April 9, 2009) at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.He was born on Dec. 8, 1940, in Fairmont, a son of the late Glenn and Willa G. Satterfield Irons.He was preceded in death by Elaine Irons, his loving wife of 46 years, on Nov. 25, 2008.Garry was a retired sheet metal worker with the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local #33 out of Parkersburg and Clarksburg. He enjoyed camping and spending time in Florida during the winter months. He also enjoyed helping family and friends on many different building projects. He was fond of spending time with his beloved dog Mollie.Garry was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Colfax Community Association.He is survived by his three daughters and one son-in-law, Bonnie and Scott Walker of Colfax, Diana Uphold of Fairmont and Tammy Conrad-Price of Fairmont; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Denise Irons of Colfax; five grandchildren, whom he adored, Morgan Uphold, Trai Irons, Myranda Irons, Mackenzee Walker and Meghan Conrad.He is also survived by his loving brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Cindy Irons of Whitehall; a niece and two nephews and their spouses , Shelly and Albie Fluharty of Plum Run, Rusty and Bobbi Jo Irons of Colfax and Brian and Angie Irons of Bunner Ridge.In addition to his parents, two grandsons, Jarrett and Ian Conrad and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Albert and Eleanor Armstrong.Friends and family may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment services will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
