ROBERTS _ Garth Lynn October 26, 1934 - January 3, 2007 After a spirited battle, Garth Roberts of Mission, BC peacefully passed on at the age of 72 years, with his daughters Sheila and Shelley by his side. Garth was born in Binscarth, Manitoba and raised in Manola, Alberta where he went on to have successful baseball and hockey careers throughout Alberta. As a grain buyer in Grande Prairie, AB, Garth became an avid bird hunter never missing an opportunity to enjoy the cool early northern mornings and the sunsets. After career moves to Edmonton, Regina, Faust, and Fort St. John, in 1979 Garth and his wife Jeanne settled in Mission, BC where relationships blossomed throughout the community. Always to be remembered were the many gatherings with friends and family and the endless laughs out at Hatzic Lake. Garth was predeceased by his wife Jeanne of 30 years (August 2006) and his sister Isabelle Stewart of Richmond. He is survived by his siblings Milan Johnson of Manitoba, Ross Roberts of Burnaby, Sheila Symons of Whitby, ON and Wilma Wybourn of Toronto. He will be missed by his children Doug and Colleen Roberts (Kelowna), Barry Roberts (Mission), Shelley and Rob Ramsay (Maple Ridge), Sheila and Ron Lambert (Abbotsford), George and Salli Rice (Hope), Darrel Pustanyk, Duane and Cecile Pustanyk (Fort St. John); Garths 13 grandchildren Courtney, Jarrett, Janine, Brianne, Larissa, Devin, Katrina, Star, Sheena, Ron Jr., Wade, Tara, Kaylie and 3 great grandchildren Curtis, Kaitlyn and Keith. His family would like to thank the Mission A&W Coffee Gang and Staff, the neighbors on Shore Road, the Mission Memorial Hospital, the endless caregivers who assisted him and his many friends and acquaintances, all of whom were an attribute to Garth's busy days. Garth will be laid to rest by his mother Catherine (Kate) at the Masonic Cemetery in Burnaby, BC later this spring, when the sun is shining, the birds are singing and his greatest love, baseball spring training camp is starting. Donations may be made on his behalf to the Heart and Stroke Fund or Lung Association. Arrangements entrusted to Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home 604-826-9548
