It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garvin "Jack" DeWayne Witt, 84, who left this world on March 6, 2025, in
Madison, Nebraska. He was laid to rest at Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery in Plainview, Nebraska.
Jack was born to Vincint and Thelma (Parker) Belloumini on November 6, 1940, in Livingston, Montana. He was baptized in the Methodist Church of Clinton, NE on April 5th, 1959 and served in the United States Marines from June 16, 1960, to March 18, 1964. After being honorably discharged, Jack contracted hay and worked as a mechanic in Gordon, Nebraska until the spring of 1967, when he was confirmed and married Audrey Burtzloff in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Gordon, Nebraska.
Jack and Audrey made their home in
Madison, Nebraska, where Jack worked as a mechanic. He also welded pipelines in Kansas and Oklahoma and was trained as a machinist. Jack and Audrey had two daughters, Amy (Witt) Ricks and Allison (Witt) Moeller both of Liberal, Kansas. In 1972, Jack moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he worked as a machinist and maintenance man for several employers.
On March 8th, 1988, Jack married Pauline (Pilger) Fuchs in the United Methodist Church in Norfolk, NE. They made their home in Pierce, Nebraska, until 1993 when they moved to Norfolk. Jack's first job after relocating to northeast Nebraska was at W & F in Norfolk as a machinist. Later on, Jack worked on the maintenance team at Beef America and Leprino Foods until his retirement in May of 2013. Jack spent his remaining years driving part-time for Prince of the Road out of Ravenna, Nebraska; working in his shop; going fishing with friends; and spending time with family.
Jack was a devoted husband to his wife of nearly 38 years-Jack and Pauline's anniversary was two days after his passing. He was also a loving father and stepfather. For example, when his daughter Amy needed help fixing up her house so she could sell it, Jack was there with a pickup full of tools. And when his stepdaughter Julie was in college and called home because her car was stalled in the middle of the street, Jack came to Kearney the next day to leave a car for her to drive and took hers home to get it running again. Jack was also a creative problem-solver. When his stepson Jason purchased a split-level home that did not have a way into the garage without having to walk outside, Jack found a way to connect them. There wasn't anything Jack couldn't fix, and he was always willing to help a friend or neighbor, wanting nothing in return. The satisfaction of helping someone in need was payment enough.
Jack learned how to repair things from his stepdad, Willie Henry Witt, who adopted him on February 4, 1958 when he was 18 years old. He used that knowledge when he was stationed in Japan as a mechanic in the Marines, and his team was responsible for keeping the military equipment running that was needed to fight the war in Vietnam.
Jack was fun to be around and full of life stories. He was deeply loved, and his legacy will live on through the memories we hold dear and the impact he had on our lives.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Pauline Witt of Norfolk; children, Jason (Angie) Fuchs of Norfolk, NE, Julie (Bill) Albin of Elmhurst, IL, Jim (Brandi) Fuchs of Hoskins, NE, Joe (Brenda) Fuchs of Norfolk, NE, Amy Ricks of Liberal, KS, Allison (Will) Moeller of Liberal, KS; grandchildren Katie Albin, Hollie Albin, Justin Jurgensen, Tyler Fuchs, Dylan Fuchs, Kalob Fuchs, Jayden Fuchs, Kody Fuchs, Khloie Fuchs, Breanna Fuchs, Derrick Larsen, Drew Larsen, Dennis Larsen, Jacob Ricks, Mara Ricks, and Sylvia Ricks; great grand-child Jianna Jurgensen; and brother Willie (Sharon) Witt of Gordon, NE.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vincint Belloumini; his mother and stepfather, Thelma and Willie (Bill) Witt; his sisters Ann and Colleen, one brother Jim Witt, and one great-granddaughter Katherine Fuchs.
