Gary Gordon Bequette

Gary Gordon "BQ" Bequette passed away on June 26, 2025 at the age of 83.
Gary lived a life marked by dedication to public service and a deep connection to his community.
Gary served as a police officer for 37 years serving this citizens of St. Louis City, Riverview Gardens and Bellefontaine Neighbors. His long standing commitment to Law enforcement reflected his steadfast sense of duty and responsibility.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Renee Etz; son Stephen Horak; grandchildren Lauren Dugan, Madison Horak, Shelby Floyd, Brandon Etz; and brother Richard Bequette.
Gary is pro-ceded in death by his beloved wife Sherry, his mother Alice Bequette (nee Cleburne); Father Gordon Bequette; and sister Barbara Mellow.
Known affectionately as "BQ", Gary was a familiar face in his town of Alton, IL. He walked six miles a day and became a well-known figure in the community through these daily routines.
His love for animals was evident to all who knew him - he cherished his Fur Babies throughout his life.
In keeping with his generous spirit and desire to help others beyond his life, Gary chose to donate his body for the benefit of others. His remains will be placed with his wife Sherry that honors their enduring bond.
