Gary Berry, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 2, 2024.
Gary Stanley Berry, Jr's perpetual light descended into heaven on September 28, 2024, with his wife, Kimberly Dimmett; best friend, Christian Clark; and sister-in-law, Carol Farrar, by his side. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Gary Stanley Berry, Sr., his brother, Tommy Berry; his nephew, Jarett Berry; his nephew, Jacob Berry; and his niece, Tori Penny.

Gary's propensity for positivity and his zest for living life to its fullest was a constant source of inspiration for his wife, Kimberly Dimmett. He treasured their time together and never missed a chance to tell her how much he loved her. They resided in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the past 5 years. The two enjoyed camping, kayaking, travel, and the life they had together. Gary's favorite trips included their honeymoon in Mexico and a vacation to Juneau, Alaska. Meeting later in life gave them both a special appreciation for the time they had together. - "Three things will last forever-faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love".

Gary grew up in Lubbock, Texas, with his four siblings, Faith, Leslie, Stacie, and Tommy. Gary's focus was always led by his children, grandchildren, and mother, Virginia. Gary had four daughters - Amber, Samantha, Candice, and Ashley - one son, Drew, and one stepson Zachary. Gary had six grandchildren who were the loves of his life - Brylee, Bella, Ariana, Anais, Jackson, and Jameson. He made it a point to call all of them on their birthdays and sing, in his loudest, most obnoxious voice, Happy Birthday.

To Gary, his family extended beyond blood to his lifelong friend, Christian Clark. The bond that developed between the two over a period of over 30 years would become the substance of a friendship that death cannot impede.

Anyone writing an obituary for Gary Berry would be remiss if they failed to mention his love for playing football, Texas Rangers baseball, and Texas football. Much of Gary's closet was filled with burnt orange. Every Saturday, August through December, Gary could be found professing both good and bad profanities as "his team" charged through the season.

Gary Stanley Berry, Jr. will be sorely missed by many but what he gave us while in our physical presence is a light that will remain aglow in each of us until we meet again. Rest well my beautiful husband.

Every time I was around my Uncle Bo Bo. He always made us laugh. "Only the Shadow knows." Everytime I saw him. He was a ball of energy no matter the circumstance. He was a person I thrived to be around.

Gary such a genuine soul, a willing vessel, helpful, caring man. I truly believed that God brought Kim and Gary into our lives. I will forever remember their willingness to help build our community and our church. He was nobody's stranger, a true brother and friend. What an impact and example of God's love and compassion for others. We the Resurrection Life World Outreach Church family will always cherish the gift God gave us through your warm smile, country voice and servant's heart.

I will always remember my dad's big loud voice, the way he almost made light of hard situations and how much he loved me and my girls. Galveston will always make me think of my dad. He loved the island, and when he moved here I did too so I could be close to him. My dad was my everything. I love him so much and I miss him everyday.
