Gary Briggs Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 11 to Feb. 13, 2023.
Gary Steven Briggs, 69, of Wethersfield passed away peacefully at Middlesex Hospital on Monday, February 6, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford on December 15, 1953, he was the son of Derwood and Rita Briggs (deceased). After growing up in Hartford, Gary moved to Stafford Springs, where he graduated high school in 1972. It was here that he met the woman who would be his loving wife of 37 years, Debbie Briggs. Gary spent most of his working career in automotive service, two decades of which as a successful service manager at several large dealerships.

Anyone who knee Gary would remember him as an affectionate, generous, kind-hearted person that loved making friends. He was loyal, generous, and treated everyone with dignity and respect. Gary was at his happiest when he was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved watching the Red Sox, reading a good book, and going for walks and hikes. He leaves his children, Ryan Briggs, Amy Sardo and her husband Sal; his grandchildren Emily, Damian and Dominic Sardo. He also leaves his younger sister Karen Wilson and her husband Leo, along with nephews Jeff Haynes and Jason Haynes.

Gary spent his last years at Wadsworth Glen Health and Rehabilitation Care in Middletown, where he made many friends. His family thanks everyone there for keeping Gary safe and comfortable in his most time of need.

I worked at Wadsworth Glen and grew very fond of Gary. He always knew where to come when he needed help with his Roku or cell phone. Not that I really knew what I was doing but I was stubborn and wouldn´t quit until i figured it out for him. When he spoke of his family you could see the love in his eyes. I will miss him very much.

I work at Wadsworth Glen and knew Garry well. We often talked and he spoke fondly of his wife and children. I brought him some of his favorite treats, Pringle and sometimes food. He will be greatly missed, I'll miss our chats. God Bless and keep him.
