Gary Lee Brunner, 72, St. Joseph, Mo., formerly of Oregon, Mo., died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at his residence with his family by his side.
Mr. Brunner was born June 21, 1935, in Oregon. He lived in St. Joseph his entire adult life.
He married Laura Marie Ruhnke on Feb. 20, 1960. She preceded him in death June 4, 2007.
He was a self-employed carpenter and skilled craftsman, known for his inventive ways.
Mr. Brunner also was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Adolph and Mildred (Wagoner) Brunner.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher.
Survivors: three sons, Jeff Brunner of St. Joseph; Paul Brunner and wife, Rebecca, of St. Joseph; and Mike Brunner, and wife, Leanna, of Smithville, Mo.; two sisters, Connie Cass and Kathie Brunner, both of St. Joseph; two brothers, Kenny Brunner of St. Joseph. and Kevin Brunner of Beverly Hills, Calif.; six grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew, Jacob, Rachel, Andrew and Elizabeth; an aunt; cousins; nieces and nephews.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
