PLATTSBURGH -- Mr. Gary L. Facteau, 59, of Fjord Drive, Cumberland Head, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008, at his home with his loving family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Sept. 10, 1948, the son of Andrew and Barbara (Couture) Facteau.
Gary was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Army. He then worked at Imperial Wall Coverings for 29 years until the plant closed. Gary then began GLF Custom Homes and was well known for his construction skills. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.
Gary was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Facteau; and his grandparents, Lillian and Ider Couture and Lena and Ovid Facteau.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sheila (Clookey) Facteau of Plattsburgh; a son, Bryan Facteau and his wife Danielle-Riel Facteau and their son Preston of Plattsburgh; a daughter, Kim Baker and her husband Jason and their children Tyler, Kelsey and Coby of Plattsburgh; his parents, Andrew and Barbara Facteau of Saranac, N.Y.; five brothers, Larry Facteau and his wife Judy of Morrisonville, Billy Facteau and his companion Sonia De Oliviera of Morrisonville, Tim Facteau and his wife Diane of Dannemora, John Facteau and his wife Linda of Plattsburgh, Tony Facteau and his wife Sue of Saranac; three sisters, Sandy Davidson and her husband Bob of Saranac, Mary Napper and her husband Randy of Saranac, Shirley Boland of Plattsburgh; several nieces, nephews; aunts, uncles; cousins; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law also survive him.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head.
Interment with military honors will follow at St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or Chazy Youth Hockey in care of Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
