Gary Greenlee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 25, 2024.
Gary Lee Greenlee was born on September 5, 1942, in Denver, Colorado, to Frank Virgil Greenlee Senior and Beulah Irene Griffith Greenlee. He grew up in Lemon Grove, California from 1946, attending Lemon Grove schools and graduated from Mt. Miguel High School in 1961. He served in the USAF from 1961 to March of 1965, being deployed in Germany and Turkey as well as serving in parts of the U.S. Gary worked at several places on Palomar Mountain, including the Palomar Baptist Camp and the US Forestry, both during his high school days and for a while after he was discharged from the Air Force. He was employed over 30 years at Datron Communication in Escondido, California. He died on January 5, 2024 from a two month lingering illness in Lemon Grove, California.

He was married to Patricia A Walzer. He is survived by one brother, Frank Greenlee and wife, Joyce. Also survived by two sons, Scott Greenlee and Eric Greenlee and his wife, Jana; and one daughter, Heather Greenlee.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles for many years and rode as often as he could; especially in the mountains and desert areas of Southern California. In his younger days, he made several cross country trips, including parts of Canada and into Kentucky. Gary was a very caring person who loved his children and other members of his family. He was an honorable, dependable man and could be counted on to keep his word. Many family members recall that he was always a happy prankster when they visited him.

Grandpa Gary,

I have fond memories of our visits to California to see Grandpa Gary. Each time was filled with excitement as we reunited with family and shared in his boundless joy and love. He was always generous, lending me VHS tapes to enjoy, even though I often forgot to return them, haha. And who could forget the birthday cards with cash inside? He knew how much I loved money, and the amount always matched my age. Though our time together was limited, every moment was precious and unforgettable. Grandpa Gary was the epitome of kindness and love, never once showing anger or frustration. Now, he rests in Heaven, embraced by the love of the Lord. We miss you, Grandpa Gary. God bless.
