- - Gary Hirt, former owner of the Get-Two-Gether Singles Magazine, passed away on May 31, 2018.

A native of New York, he spent the majority of his life in Colorado and Wyoming. Gary was in the USAF from 1966 until 1970 serving in Korea and Thailand. Upon leaving the military, he had various professions including (but not limited to): Loan officer; Matchmaker; Executive Director Chamber of Commerce (Douglas WY); tech worker - Hewlett Packard, Adaptec, Roxio; shop keeper, and computer repair.

Gary always considered the marriages of 1600+ couples he introduced over the 15 years that Get-Two-Gether Singles was in business, one of his proudest accomplishments. Many of GTG's "success stories" became lifelong friends. Occupying office space in the 600 block of South College for many years, the Singles Store was home to his magazine long before the social acceptance of internet dating. Gary was President of The National Singles Press Association for many years.

He closed the GTG store in 1996 and met his future wife, Karen the next month.

Mr. Hirt is survived by his devoted wife Karen Eastberg Hirt; wonderful sons: Chris Hirt of New York, Levi Kempf (Ciara) of Montana, Jacob Kempf of Colorado; loving daughters: Ellen Kempf of Wisconsin, and Elizabeth 'Buffy' Messick (Robert) of Colorado; and his eight delightful grandchildren: Athena, James, Julian, Alex, Lucian, Eli, Emma, and Annabelle.

Gary has opted for full body donation through Science Care. A celebration of life will be held this summer.
