It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gary, 62 years' young, after another courageous battle with cancer on February 14, 2017, at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton.
Gary is survived by his adoring wife Mary Kitching and a beautiful blended family with 3 children - Dayna (Rob), Melissa and Sarah. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Marlie, Coleson, Ryder, Madden and Harlow. Gary is also survived by his loving parents Glen and Nadia Kitching of Thunder Bay, aunts Marcia Kitching and Shirley Peristy and numerous cousins.
Predeceased by his grandparents Nick and Wasylena (“Elsie”) Peristy, and John and Gertie Kitching. Uncles Nestor Peristy, Donald and Murray (Dorothy) Kitching and cousin Donald Jr.
Born in Winnipeg, Gary moved with his parents at age 1 to Thunder Bay, where he grew up in Current River, attending Current River School and Lakeview High School. After graduation, he worked for several companies until he joined National Tobacco, where he made many friends, travelled extensively, and retired in Brantford after 25 years of dedicated service. Gary will be remembered for his sense of humour, ability to fix anything, and love of all things fast.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Gary's life will be held at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 1-3pm. If desired, memorial donations in Gary's honour may be made online at hamiltonhealth.ca/stems to support Stem Cell Transplants.

Words are a difficult way to express our sympathies to the entire family. Please know we share in your sorrow and can only hope time will help ease the pain.
Gary always called us when he was going to be stopping in Winnipeg. We managed to connect with him twice in the recent past and he actually made it out to our place in the country. He quite enjoyed the visit despite leaving the house with more dog hair than he arrived with.
A caring guy who will definitely be missed by all of his cousins and friends in Manitoba. Rest easy Gary!
