To a wonderful man who sacrificed and gave me things and experiences he never had as a child. You taught me how to be funny, kind, compassionate and live life everyday to the fullest. You were a great father and friend and later on a wonderful grandfather. I will miss our afternoon beers and talks on the patio next to the pool, I will forever miss the countless hours in the garage tinkering with the Mach One and the Vette, the wonderful vacations on the beaches of the world, our times at Mardi Gras and especially our name that tune oldies sessions with the old 45s and LPs . Such great memories that I will hold close to my heart and share with your grandson as he gets older and relive with your granddaughter as she enter a new chapter of her life as an adult. You meant the world to me and you always will and don't you think for a second you won't be hearing from me… and I know you'll be listening. I love you daddy!

Forever in my heart and soul.
Your daughter,
Becca

The world lost an amazing person... I will deeply miss you Uncle Gary. You were hilarious and opinionated and such a fighter. I wish I could have been there to say goodbye at the end.

I will never forget how you tried to steal my baby blanket from me when I was younger so I always hid it somewhere when I knew you were coming over. Or when it was just you and I driving together to dinner that last visit to Texas and I told you about my cell phone ticket and you just laughed and called me a felon the rest of the trip. When I drove through Texas later that year and met up with you and Aunt Mary for breakfast, I never would have thought that that would be the last time I would get to see you. I wish I had lived closer to spend more time with you.

We are all better having known you. I don't think anyone will ever amount up to you. I love you. Can't wait to meet up with you again someday.

Gary always kept me on my toes. As Mary's little sister, he always found some new way to pester me....his special way of making me know I was family. Thank you for being a wonderful husband to my sister and a loving father to my niece. You will be missed.

Here's looking at you Uncle Gary. You made us smile and you made us laugh.

You will be missed Gary! My thoughts and prayers go out to Mary and the rest of the Leonard family. You two have been great neighbors since I moved to the cul-de-sac in 1995. I will treasure the memory of Gary putting up the Grinch display in his front yard for the benefit of his grand-daughter.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Most of my treasured childhood memories were spent growing up with your family and I hold them very close to my heart.

I was very sad when I heard that you had passed. Now that I am a mom, I often think of my childhood and those that had a positive impact in my life. You were such a wonderful dad to Becky and not only dealt with one teenager but often had the fun of deal with two. ;) Your family always included me in so many family trips. I have so many wonderful memories of camping trips, afternoons at the fair, summer concerts, days on the river, afternoons at the golf course and hanging out at the house. You also had the fun of scaring away boyfriends and I won't post your strategies here but they make me laugh now. You had such a funny sense of humor that will be missed. I told my mom that you were coming to heaven and to welcome you home.

It seems as if we have moved along with your journey beginning in California, short but ever so eventful stay in Idaho and finally we meet up with you again in Texas. The trips to the lake house were a grand adventure as most of your life. You will be truley missed and have left us all to soon. Mary & Becca do not forget your friends in Waco

Thanks for all the wonderful memories over the years. I met you as George's long and well loved friends and quickly came to think of you all in the same way he did. Thanks for always being our surrogate family on all the 'too important to be without family' holidays and other occasions and for letting us join you in enjoying the precious childhoods of your daughter, her wonderful husband and your grandchildren. Mary, don't forget we are always here for you.

I will miss our friendship from the early 70's in Sacramento, camping trips into the foothills of the Sierras to water skiing and partying in Florida to the weekends at the lakehouse with all of our friends and the special times we always spent on holidays. I always felt privileged that your family thought of me as Uncle George.
