Gary Edward Virginia, 67, passed away on August 2, 2024, in Hartford, Connecticut. Born on March 4, 1957, in Manchester, Connecticut, Gary was a lifelong resident of Manchester and East Hartford. He is the son of the late James Albert Virginia and Alene (Higgins) Virginia.

Gary graduated from Manchester High School before attending Hartford State Tech, where he honed the skills that would define his career. He worked as an IT computer systems developer at Willington Nameplate in Willington, CT, and later was a self-employed software programmer and consultant for various clients.

Gary was an enthusiastic participant in a variety of hobbies. He was an avid cyclist and motorcyclist, often seen riding through the scenic routes of Connecticut. His passion for science fiction was evident in his vast collection of books and movies, with a particular fondness for Star Trek. Gary also enjoyed bowling and was a competitive member of a bowling league at Silver Lanes Bowling Alley in East Hartford. Additionally, he was a devoted fan of the UConn women's basketball team, rarely missing a game.

Gary is survived by his sister, Jeannette and her husband, Peter Caro; his brother, James Austin Virginia; his sister, Darlene and her husband, John LaBreque; and his nieces, Melissa, Crystal, Sheila, and Shannon LaBreque; one aunt, Ardis and her husband, David Records; and several cousins with their children.

He was predeceased by his sister, Karen Virginia.

Gary will be remembered for his sociable spirit, his love for his family, and his dedication to his passions. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Gary was a talented IT person with a gift for problem solving. He also had a contagious smile and sense of humor. I'm saddened by his passing and my heart goes out to his family.
