Gary S. Young, 69, of New Tripoli, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was the husband of Janet (Mertz) Young, with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage in December 2021.
Born in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., he was a son of Linford "Buddy" and Jean "Ginger" (Kremus) Young.
Gary was a graduate of Whitehall High School, Class of 1971.
He was a veteran, having served in the Army stationed in Germany from 1972 to 1974.
He worked for East Penn Manufacturing, Topton, and also as an employee/owner of Blind Ambitions, in charge of installing blinds, shades and awnings for over 35 years. Prior to that, he was employed for 16 years at Mack Trucks, Allentown.
Gary was predeceased by his aunt, Joni Kremus.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sister, Gail M. Bundra, of Walnutport; brother, Glen T. Young (Eileen Butler), of Northampton; sister-in-law, Sandra L. Mertz (Brian Sharrow), of Arlington, Va.; nieces, Carrie L. Bundra, of Walnutport, and Jenna L. (David) Martin, of Northampton; nephews, Brian S. (Jenny) Young, of Easton, and Jared J. Bundra, of Walnutport; four great-nieces; two great-nephews.
Gary had a passion to live in the woods and knew the importance of giving back to the land. He revitalized the old barn into a welcoming home for family and friends to gather. Many traditions were made, including First Day of Fishing parties, tales and tunes around the fire and Jeep rides up the mountain, all steps to becoming a "member of the land clan." Gary loved the wonders of travel, enjoying time spent cruising the bays of Delaware and Maryland on the family pontoon and journeying off to far flung places, such as Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Belize, Colombia and Alaska.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, with a visitation period to begin at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Cindy White will officiate. I was very fortunate to be invited by the Bundra´s a handful of times to the first day of fishing at Gary and Janets. Always had a great time, the kind of times that you never forget. Rest in peace.

Dearest Janet, Ginger,Buddy and the entire Young Family,
I was shocked and saddened by the passing of Gary. He was the most sincere, generous, and loving man I have ever met. If we could all write down a favorite memory or story about Gary, we could fill heaven´s walls. God has gained His most special angel. "Gawy", in the day, I could not have asked for a better brother-in-law. I will love and miss you always. May you rest on peace. My thoughts, love and prayers are with your family.
