Gaynel Margaret (Williams) Hanas, age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home in Washington, DC. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Gaynel was born in Unus, West Virginia, on February 3, 1940. She was the daughter of Emory and Lizzie Mae (Allen) Williams.

Gaynel Margaret (Williams) Hanas is survived by her daughter, Motrya Hanas Calafiura and husband Peter of Washington, D.C.; her grandchild, Roman Alexander Calafiura; and her brother David Williams of Lancaster, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Antony Hanas.

Her wishes were to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held in April 2024 in West Virginia. More details to come.
