I have to say that the love and closeness felt at Gene's memorial service was amazing. One can only hope to have that kind of unconditional love, when passing. Gene left such a legacy of strength and power in his family. Obviously his children and grandchildren carry it forword and will keep his memory alive forever. I personally cherish the times spent with him and his family, through my dear friend Toni, and will always remember him with respect and with a smile. He had that effect on people, and the memories of him will be cherished forever. My deepest sympathy to Janice, Toni, and all of his loving family and friends who grieve in his passing. I look forward as you do to seeing Gene again on the other side. May God hold you in his loving arms and comfort you at this time of sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. With love, Angi Burns

Here's to the memory of a man who was "real." I can always picture him with raised eyebrows at something one of us had done or said (usually Jay and not me!) followed by what would be one of the funniest comments (his way of scolding?) I ever heard, but, even more often, he just had an s-eating grin on his face that made me feel good. (And... he took me to my first ever hockey game!) God bless him.
