I am so sorry to hear that my uncle Gene has passed. I loved him very much and he was such an inspiration to me. I have very fond memories of us together at my grandmothers home.He will be missed by all of us.

Mr. Lockhart was one of my dad's good friends. They had coffee together nearly every day with a large group of men from Huntsville. I first met Mr. Lockhart when I was a young boy hanging out at the Huntsville Airport. He had a Piper Tri-Pacer airplane and a Ford Thunderbird. As kids we all knew him and respected him because he was a state trooper and none of us wanted to ever get a ticket especially because he knew our dads. As a young boy, I knew him because he was a pilot and I always wanted to be a pilot. He was a man of integrity I will always remember with great respect. Most of all, he and my dad were good friends and now they are having coffee together once again.

My deepest thankyou for the life Gene had. Gene was a friend and partner to my Dad Paul Bruno. I remember many Thanksgivings or other Holidays when Gene would stop in our house to eat while out on patrol. And many fishing trips to the old Smither Farm. He had a great sense of humor and was able to deal with my dad in a way that most couldn't. I was proud of both of them for being Troopers and doing such a selfless job and for putting their lives on the line numerous times. As Paul's oldest son let me give you my families heartfelt prayers and encouragement that men that served others will be in good hands in heaven.
