Genevieve Ramos Anderson was born on April 16, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to parents Dolores and Ernest Ramos. She grew up in Southern California before moving to Oregon in 1983, where she raised her daughter in the mountain town of Sandy. She moved to Portland in 1998, and then finally settled in Newberg. Genevieve worked for Legacy Health Systems for more than two decades, first as a phlebotomist and then in the client services department of their central laboratory. A lifelong animal lover, she passed her passion for horses on to her daughter. Genevieve was a gifted painter who loved to draw and do embroidery. She was an avid gardener and talented baker, and she loved celebrating holidays with her family, especially Christmas. She adored the band Queen and its lead singer. Her participation in several online Freddie Mercury fan groups brought her friendships that spanned the world. Everyone who knew her appreciated her gorgeous smile, her unrelentingly-positive attitude, and infectious laugh. Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bruce Ramos. She is survived by her brother, Brian Ramos, her ex-husband, Jim Anderson, their daughter, Erin McCarthy, her son-in-law, Jaybill McCarthy, and her beloved grandson, Ernie McCarthy, who was the light of her life.
