George Bradin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 7, 2025.
George David Bradin, age 83, of Frederick, MD, and formerly of Pineville, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. George was born on December 23, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Hugh Francis Bradin and Elizabeth Reed Bradin, who, along with his brother Hugh Francis Bradin, predeceased him.

A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, George was a kind, thoughtful, and gentle man with an infectious smile, incredible sense of humor, and a passion for sports, traveling, and music.

He graduated from West Catholic Boys High School in Philadelphia, PA, and Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. A gifted athlete and college baseball player, George was noted for his tremendous curveball, which led to wins against UPenn, Villanova, and Temple, to name a few.

George and his wife Patricia started a family in Hamilton Square, NJ, where they developed lifelong friends before moving to Charlotte, NC, in the late 1980s, where they were struck by friendship fortune, which would persist.

His passion for sports continued as a coach, where he coached his children in baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer. When not coaching, he could be found supporting his hometown Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and his adopted hometown team, the Carolina Panthers.

George had a distinguished career as a textile engineer with Springs Industries in New York and Fort Mill, SC, and Glen Raven Inc. in Burlington, NC, where he made contributions to the design and further development of stretch denim and Lycra Spandex.

George was a family man who learned sign language to communicate with one of his grandchildren. Over the years, he attended numerous concerts for the experience and love of music, while supporting the many philanthropic foundations which impacted his family. When not traversing the mid-Atlantic region by car, he could be found in some of his most treasured locations like Hilton Head Island, SC, Carolina Beach, NC, and the Jersey Shore.

George is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Hogan Bradin; his children, Marbeth Sobeiraj (Jim) and David (Michelle); his grandchildren, Julia, Indigo, and Elizabeth. With a small family, he was cherished by his nephews, John Ferone (Meghan), Scott Bradin (Paula), and Hugh Bradin, and their children.

Celebrations of life are pending in Charlotte, NC, and Hamilton Square, NJ. Those looking to honor George's memory can make donations to You're Just My Type, to support the mental health of individuals living with Type 1 Diabetes, or Do It For The Love, inspiring hope and healing through the power of live music.

My uncle George was such a special person to me and my family. He and Pat spent many days and nights visiting his brother and all of us here in Apex. My children have always thought of them as another set of grandparents. Our time together was always filled with laughter and joy. George was a kind and gentle man, and I loved joking around with him - he had a great sense of humor. One of our favorite memories is playing hot potato in the living room with my four kids - it always turned into a ruckus full of laughter and smiles. My family saw him about a month before he passed, and we had a wonderful time laughing and sharing stories, just like always. I will never forget him. He was a wonderful brother, father, husband, and uncle. He will be deeply missed.
