George Stephan Brennan

George Stephan Brennan, Sr. of Mesa, Arizona passed away on December 25, 2016 at the age of 73 years.

Mr. Brennan was born on August 6, 1943 in Astoria, Queens New York and grew up in Long Island and Rockland County, New York.

He began learning the family business of plumbing in his teens. He attended Albertus Magnus High School, the University of Notre Dame and graduated from Manhattan College. His first career was with the Internal Revenue Service. This career path transferred him and his young family from New York to Tempe, Arizona where he later opened his own plumbing business that serviced the Phoenix area for over three decades. In his later years, he returned to Long Island, New York and continued working as a plumbing estimator.

Mr. Brennan loved running track in high school, was a volunteer fireman as a young man, enjoyed coaching Pop Warner, spent many years golfing in Arizona’s beautiful weather, was an avid Notre Dame football fan, consumed the history of World War II and the United States, thoroughly enjoyed planning his 50th multi-class high school reunion, and loved nothing more than telling a good joke.

He is survived by: his brothers John and Eugene, sister, Ann, his ex-wife, Janet, son, Kyran and his wife, Jessica, son, George Jr. and his partner, Kristin, daughter, Andree, and granddaughters Amanda, Kiara and Brielle. He was a beloved uncle and will also be missed by extended family and loving friends.

Mr. Brennan was privately cremated. If so inclined, donations towards scholarships at Notre Dame would have brought him joy. May he rest in peace.
