My heart goes out to you for the deep loss you must be feeling for your beloved George. How sad to lose someone so loved and so needed. May you find comfort in prayer and in one another. (Jeremiah 29:12,13)

George was my mentor at Durham and Bates. In a few months I will close, with retirement, a 35 year career that began at his elbow. Few people, certainly few people in business, combine in their person both serenity and a readiness, when necessary, to run to the sound of the guns. George was such a person. He was a master of the elegantly antique craft that is the practice of marine insurance claims. I owe him much and will forever remember not only his expertise but also his kindness, his patience and his twinkling sense of humor.
