COOK GEORGE A.
Age 82, of Allison Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Beloved husband of 60 years to Jean (Sutton) Cook; father of Dale (Cheryl) Cook, Karen (Dave) Vujevich, Russell (Becky) Cook, Daniel (Kim) Cook and Patrick (Mary) Cook; doting "Grandpa" to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched. Born in Pittsburgh to the late Thomas and Rose (Boyle) Cook on May 31, 1930, George is reunited with his late brother Thomas and a sister Rosemary. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and National Guard, who left school at age 15 in his first attempt to join the military during WW II. Following military service, he spent several years on the Miami Beach police force and eventually returned to Pittsburgh and had a long career as a printer. He was an avid reader and knowledgeable on many subjects. He was generous with his wallet and his time; always willing to help someone in need. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 2554 Wildwood Road, Allison Park, PA 15101 on Saturday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Passavant Hospital Foundation, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pgh, PA 15237.
