Dear Ed and the entire Counihan family,

Spoke to my mother Mary (Williams) Hirsh last night and was saddened to hear of your loss. I will forever remember your father (a staple at St Germaine) as a very pleasant and easy going man, who had kind things to say and always with a smile. Please accept my sincere condolences. Wills

The Counihan Family;
My deepest sympathies go out to each and everyone one of you. You lost a great man. George gave me my first job at Vitte's when I was 16 years old. He was such a great person to work for and a great role model. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Dear Kathy & Family.
We wanted to extend our deepest sympathy to all of you. We had family in from Mississippi this weekend so we were not able to come to the viewing. The article in the paper about your Father was wonderful, he was a remarkable man. You surely will have wonderful memories of him and he will be your personal angel keeping watch over you and Frank and the girls. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Very sorry to hear about George. I remember he stood for me at confirmation and he drove George (son) Pat and I to the first Pirate game I ever went to. What a great Dad and so many great memories you must all have and how proud he must be of all of you too.

What more fitting time of celebration and storytelling about a fun-loving father and grandfather could there be than Father's Day! Although I was never privileged to meet Mr. Counihan, I understand the joyful interactions he must have brought to gatherings, because I know his energetic daughter, Kathy, from times we spend together with families of young children. What an honor for the "greatest dad in the world" to be remembered by his gifts of service and goodness that will never be silenced in his legacy! May God guide and sustain your entire family, at this time of deep sadness, with hope and laughter left behind for you by his happy, loving example in life. My family and I extend our most sincere sympathy to you all.
