George Dalmas Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 21, 2024.
George Dalmas Jr. aged 86, passed away on September 17, 2024 in Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. Born on March 6, 1938, George lived a full life of service, love, and adventure.

George graduated from Penn Argyl, PA High School in 1956 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rollins College. He had a long and distinguished career in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1985. Following his military service, he worked at Boeing at the Kennedy Space Center from 1985 until 1995.

George was not only a devoted military man, but also a loving family man. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Josephine (nee Sinek), sons George III, (wife Diana), Christopher (wife Heidi), Gregory (partner Christine), and grandsons Daniel and Blake. He was preceded in death by his siblings Joe, Viola, and Lucy.

Throughout his life, George and Josephine traveled extensively, visiting over 20 countries and every National Park in the Western US in their 38 foot RV. In 2023 George took his sons and grandsons to visit his Italian family in the mountains north of Milan - whom he had visited many times over the years- and was so happy to finally bring the boys to meet everyone.

An avid skier and hunter, he was also a member of the Space Coast Ski Club for 10 years. After retirement, George and Josephine enjoyed life in Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, where they engaged in tennis, biking, weekly card games with friends, and volunteer work.

Services were privately held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to The National Veterans Foundation, which provides a vet-to-vet hotline for assistance with medical and mental health challenges, at www.nvf.org.

George's life of adventure, service, and family devotion leaves a lasting legacy. He was cherished by all who knew him.

Fondest memory is climbing Huayna Picchu above Machu Picchu. He climbed it like a billy goat! We were struggling to keep up with him! We will miss him. Jeff & Tamara Koss

George has been a favorite patient of mine for 20 years. I had the pleasure of cleaning his teeth all those years. We shared many stories of his adventures touring the National Parks. I am so sorry Josephine for your loss. God Bless you.
