Deuel, George Eugene age 86, passed away Thursday, January 17,2013 at Suncoast Hospice House- Brookside. George was born June 11,1926 in Binghamton, New York and then moved to Clearwater, Florida. He was a high school Guidance Counselor/ Varsity Basketball/Baseball coach,at Catholic Central and Seton Catholic Central High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, World War II, Pacific Campaign, 1944-1946, USS LCS 70, and awards included Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Medal and American Area Medal. George's religious affliation was Roman Catholic. George was very active as a member and volunteer of several clubs; Basketball Inter-Service basketball team; President, Broome-Tioga County NY Guidance Counselors; NY State Public High school Athletic Association Section IV Hall of Fame; Seton Catholic Central High School Hall of Fame; Varsity Coach, 1971 Southern Tier Athletic Conference Basket Ball Champions (CCHS); Volunteer-Countryside HS, Countryside Hospital, Ruth Eckert Hall, Rockland County NY Little League, St. Thomas Aquinas Grammar School Basketball; member of Clearwater Retiree Softball League, On Top of The World Golf League. George is survived by his wife of 60 years Velma Deuel, three sons; Stephen Deuel of Lewiston, NY., Dr. John Deuel of Phoenix, AZ. anf LTC George Deuel of Arlington, VA., 10 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grand Children.
