Never mind my first memory, an early one of several that will stay with me forever is standing in the cafeteria line at top of Twamley Hall at UND and hearing him turn busy, noontime howz-it-goin' talk into an insight I badly needed but was slow to apply, though I'm some better at it now five decades later. What he said was how strong his male side was, meaning a harsh, judgmental animus. I knew him enough to be stunned at that judgment. By the time we reached the cash register with out trays he'd made clear to me that his reference was to how harshly he treated himself. The "anima" (OK, Jung did come up) is what he presented to others. Whoa!!!! Did that hit home. Thanks again, dear friend, here in the digital world where, who knows? it may live a long time
