George Glass

GLASS, George ErvinApril 11, 1916 - August 18, 2010Lovingly remembered by his daughters, Mildred Howaniec, Lyn Gleich (Bob) of London, Ontario and Sharon Allison (Angus). He was predeceased by his wife Freda (Marcroft) in 2002. He graduated at UBC with is B.A. B.Ed. 1940/41. His first teaching position was in Chilliwack, B.C. and spanned 15 years in Vancouver becoming an administrator in 1956 until his retirement in 1976. He loved music and was a member of the Welsh Mens Choir and Barber Shoppers. George will be remembered as a trumpet player and leader of the band at Foursquare Church where he and Freda met. He also enjoyed golf several days a week at Gleneagles Golf Course. He was predeceased by brother Robert (2003) and sister Celia (McLellan) Warnock (2008). He is survived by sister Grace Fountain of Auburn, Washington; sister-in-law Mary Glass; by grandchildren Craig Howaniec (Elle), Elizabeth McHale (Chris), Sharlene Hayek (Ron), Jennifer Maciejowski (Chris), Brenda Duke (Jason), Monica Vermue (Paul), Andrew Allison (Debbie); great-grandchildren Devon and Connor Hayek, Jordan and Lauryn Duke, Cole and Kiera Howaniec, Adam and Evan McHale, Bradley and Erin Maciejowski, Leah, Brianna and Charlotte Vermue, Ambrose and Maisie Allison. Thanks to all the caregivers and nurses at Sunrise Assisted Living, especially Sandra Gronnerud, his "G.G.G". The memorial for family and friends to be announced at a later date.
