NASHVILLE — George Raymond Grimes, 63, of Nashville died Thursday July 30, 2009 in Berrien County following an automotive accident. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Flat Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey, the Rev. Mark Swain, the Rev. Gary James and the Rev. Jimmy Parker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville.Mr. Grimes was born Jan. 28, 1946 in Berrien County to the late O.T. Grimes and Lillie Mae Harsey. He is a retired civil service meat cutter from the commissary at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and youth director. He was an Army veteran in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife, Brenda Giddens Grimes of Nashville; daughters, Lisa Grimes McMillan of Sparks and Christy Grimes of Nashville; brother, Bobby Grimes of Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters, Betty Knight of Ray City and Faye Conger of Nashville; step-brothers, Buddy Bostick of Nashville and James Exum of Morven; step-sister, Annette Baker of Ray City; and grandchildren, Chloe and Seth McMillan.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Flat Creek Church Youth Program. Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
