Educator, beloved partner, father, stepfather
On Monday, November 27, George Kaplan, a beloved life partner and soccer coach, passed away. He was eighty-three. Born to Harry and Mamie Kaplan, George graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor of science and went on to become a lab specialist at Tottenville High School. While coaching the Tottenville High School girls soccer team, he met Gerry, who became his life partner. They were together for twenty-five years.

George loved measuring things, especially objects that were standards of measurement. He also loved sudoku puzzles and criticizing traffic violations.
He is survived by his partner, Gerry Barclay, his stepdaughter, Heather Barclay, his son, Gideon Kaplan, and his daughter, Elizabeth Kriesten. The memorial will be held on Monday, December 4, at 4-8pm. Scarpaci Funeral Home at 6389 Amboy Rd.

Life will never be the same without George around to tease me, which he did every opportunity he had. He was a wonderful friend who will be missed dearly. My deepest sympathies & condolences go out to his family!
