George KOWALIK Obituary

Published by Monteal Gazette on Aug. 11, 2012.
KOWALIK, George
May 5, 1951 – August 1, 2012
With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of George in Chateauguay, Quebec. He was the loving and loved husband of Jonette and devoted father to Joshua who he loved beyond measure and was very proud of. Beloved son of Gregor and Maria Kowalik, and cherished by his sister Helen Arsenault and her husband Jacques, his nephew Jonathan and his niece Alexa. Despite a lifetime of chronic pain, George never lost his wicked sense of humour, mischievousness, and zest for life. Fiercely independent, intensely private and complex, George was an accomplished self-taught musician, a voracious reader, a gardener and chef, had a love of history and science, was a protector of nature and the environment, had an appreciation for all things Ukrainian, and a fascination with dragons, mythical legends, and magical beings and never turned away from a good debate. Though his voice is silent now and those who loved him still had much we meant to say and do but denied the time, we are comforted that he passed the way he wished and is finally at peace. Cremation has taken place and George's final resting place is in Bradenton, Florida, with his wife and his son that he loved so much. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

I only heard of George's passing thru a friend as we were away at the time. Please accept our condolences. I grew up with George in Montreal, we lived in the Plateau and I good remember is good times. I saw George once a year in my accounting for one of the sure things in life: taxes! The other sure thing being death. George may you rest in peace and may God be with you! Helen and Eugene

It is with a heavy heart that I come to write this condolence note. George and I grew up together through high school and beyond. Although we parted ways many years ago and became somewhat estranged from one another, I will always cherish the friendship and the adventures we shared so many years ago. My sincere heartfelt condolences to his entire family and friends for your untimely loss. I will continue to miss you old friend,...just as I have all along.

You are my rock, my other half, my beloved "Pookie". I miss you more than I can say. I hope you are playing with Aquilla and looking down upon us, protecting us, a guardian angel until we meet again.

Today, Tomorrow, Forever my Love.

As the son of George (Dad), he is the best father I could have asked for. He was there when I needed to talk to him and was a great listener. I loved listening to all his stories. He had the humor that no one else seemed to have. He loved to listen to jokes and make some himself. I couldn't have asked for a better father. Although he only was with me for a short 13 years, he touched me. He touched anyone he was with. He was the kind of person that could light up your day no matter what your problem was. I love and miss him so much. Wait for me in Heaven, Dad. I miss you. <3
