George McGahan Obituary

MASHPEE — George E. McGahan, 77, formerly of Mineola, N.Y., died at home on, Oct. 16, 2007. He was the husband of Helen (Bobrowski) McGahan, for 52 years.

Mr. McGahan was born and raised in Rego Park, N.Y., he served in the Coast Guard for three years, during the Korean War.

After he was honorably discharged from the Coast Guard he joined the New York City Fire Department.

He retired after 21 years of service, from the fire department as a Captain and worked for ten years, as a loss control manager, for Utica Mutual Insurance Company.

He moved to Mashpee in 2001, after residing in Mineola, N.Y. for many years.

George was an avid skier and golfer.

Beside his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael McGahan and his wife Susan of Morris Plains, N.J.; a daughter, Kathleen Shay and her husband Stephen, of Duxbury; and five grandchildren, Caela, Patrick, Brenna, Erin, and Connor.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. at Route 151, Mashpee.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 22, at Christ the King Church, Mashpee Commons.

Burial will be at, Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
