George "Skipper" William Miller

George "Skipper" William Miller, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on April 15, 2024. He was born on February 23, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas.

Skipper was a dedicated machinist, having spent 36 years working at Pearl Brewery and 5 years at San Antonio Water System. He was known for his exceptional skills and craftsmanship - Skipper could fix ANYTHING! He was passionate about his work and would be the first person to offer to help if there was a need to fix anything, whether it be a multimillion dollar machine or a family lawn mower.

Outside of his profession, Skipper had a deep passion for fishing. From the time he was a child he spent countless hours on the water at the Texas Gulf Coast, usually at Port Aransas, taking his boat out any time he could make it down there. His favorite trips were the ones he took with his wife Red, or one of his many fishing buddies. In the last few years, with the help of his neighbor Derrick, he was able to squeeze in a few more fishing trips. His love for fishing brought him joy and peace throughout his life.

Skipper will be remembered for his dedication to his craft, his love for fishing, his warm and friendly personality, and his infectious laugh. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Skipper was preceded in death by his parents, George and Aileene Miller. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Judith "Red" Miller, daughter Kandy Wittenberg (John), granddaughter Alexandra Wittenberg (Ben Frock), grandson Jack Wittenberg, granddaughter Chelsea Davenport (Bill Vanderheyden), brother Michael Miller (Paula), and countless extended family and friends including Brandy Atchley (Todd).

The family would like to thank the following healthcare professionals that provided Skipper exceptional care over the past 5 years: Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Vardiman, Dr. Parsons, and Dr. Martinez. The family also expresses thanks and gratitude for the care and comfort provided by Lehi and Maria with Heart to Heart Hospice.

I just saw this. I am Skipper´s cousin. I grew up either at my grandmother or his grandparents house and we had a great time. My family went fishing with his a number of times.
Unfortunately, I moved to the east coast back in 1989 and lost track of most of my mom´s family.
Skipper was a great guy. I have wonderful memories of our two families. My grandmother was Laura Reese Doty.

Humor, humility, and service to others are the things I remember most about George. And fishing, of course. Being his friend was an honor. He taught me much about many things, always with his special humor.

He could always share a laugh with you. He had a great sense of humor, was full of wisdom, and you could trust that he was going to be genuine with you.

George, you gently touched more lives than you ever knew. I'll never forget your calm guiding hand at the group and the loyal loving way you and Red saw out my mentor Gil. Catch you on the flipside, George. <3
