George MILTON Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald on Feb. 3, 2012.
MILTON, George A.
On February 1, 2012, we lost a loving father, devoted husband and great friend with the passing of George A. Milton of Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 74. He passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, after an unexpected stroke a few days prior. With him when he passed were his wife, Judy, and his daughters, Susan and Kerry. He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 41 years, Judy (nee Appel); his devoted daughters Susan and Kerry (Chris Croteau); and his beloved granddaughters Peyton, Claudia and Cameron. He will also be sadly missed by his mother, Jeanne Milton; sister, Kathy (Greg) Chorny; sister, Linda (Edward) Schmidt; sister, Carol Barr; sister-in-law, Dora; as well as many treasured friends. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond, and his brother, Robert. George was born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and graduated from Kirkland Lake Collegiate Institute in 1956. He received a BA from the University of Western Ontario. During his 36 years in the investment industry, he became Vice President of Midland Walwyn, and succeeding investment firms, specializing in advanced exploration and development mining projects. His knowledge in the mining field was unparalleled. After retirement in 1997, George relished a still active role in the investment industry as an investor and advisor to junior mining companies, as well as enjoying time in Tucson, Arizona, and Los Cabos, Mexico, with family and friends. He was an active sportsman and loved golfing with buddies wherever he went; but particularly at his home course, the Edmonton Country Club, to which he returned after living for 12 years in Kenmare, Ireland. He also loved spending time with his loyal dogs, Jake and Charlie.
George will be greatly missed by all.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday, February 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Edmonton Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George Milton's name to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra or the charity of your choice.
