George Mullen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2025.
George Michael Mullen, a lifelong resident of the Bronx, died at the age of 78, on the evening of July 3, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela, and by his two step children, Hashem and Inara Nasarat.

After bravely battling illnesses over recent years, George chose to spend his final days in hospice, where he passed peacefully, soft jazz music playing, within the loving embrace of his wife.

George was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx and went on to work for New York Telephone, Verizon, and finally Bloomberg Financial, from which he retired in 2010.

A fan of the NY Yankees, George also coached a women's softball team for many years in the Bronx. He was an avid lover of jazz music and a firm believer in herbal remedies. Admired for his youthful outlook, peaceful and loving attitude, and joy of living, George was an inspiration for choosing happiness.

George spent the last years of his life with his adoring wife by his side, taking pleasure in the simple things like walking in parks and woodland trails, and sitting along the Hudson River, beside which they were married.

Funeral~memorial services were held at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture in the Bronx on July 11, 2025. The all-denominational program included music that was meaningful to him - "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes, John Lennon's "Imagine" and "Let it Be", Bob Dylan's "Forever Young", and Jerry Garcia's version of "I Shall be Released". Burial took place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in White Plains, New York, where twenty red balloons were released at the conclusion.
