**Obituary**

George Alberto Ortiz, Jr., a beloved brother and friend passed away on June 10, 2024, in White Plains, NY, at the age of 74. George was born on March 1, 1950, in Manhattan, NY, and brought joy to all who knew him.

If you knew George, you knew he was a kind and gentle soul with a profound love for his family and friends. He had a passion for creating art and listening to music, especially the Temptations. George's happiness was evident when he had his headphones on, immersed in his favorite tunes.

George resided in a group home in Yonkers operated by Cardinal McCloskey Community Services, where he was adored by the staff who cared for him. He had a talent for decorating and fashion, always quick to compliment others on their attire. He loved to get dressed up in a suit, tie, and shoes and don't forget his cologne. His love for social gatherings, dancing, and singing brought him immense joy.

He will be deeply missed by his dedicated staff at Truman, especially Basil and Bernadette, his friends at the ARC of Westchester Day program in Yonkers, his care team Beth Fong and Sheila Barry, and his family. George's sister, Janet Rivera, was a fierce and loving advocate for George as well as his niece, Tiesha Thorpe. George is also survived by his brothers, Charles Rivera, Jimmy Rivera, David Rivera, and sister, Anna Rivera. George was pre-deceased by his mother, Irma Madonado.

A wake service will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, from 3-7pm at Ortiz Funeral Home on Westchester Ave., Bronx, NY 10462, with cremation to follow. The Ortiz Funeral Home in Bronx, NY, is assisting with the arrangements.

George's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness and joyful spirit. May he rest in peace.
