George Peters Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2024.
George H. Peters, 66, of Belvidere, Illinois passed away on August 22, 2024, in Rockford, Illinois. Born on July 18, 1958, in Wheaton, Illinois, George dedicated many years of his life to serving at ComEd and Nicor before concluding his career at the Illinois Tollway, where he worked for over 20 years.

George was known for his hard-working nature, often seen mowing the yard, decorating during Christmas, or meticulously working on his motorcycle. These hobbies brought him immense joy and were a significant part of his life.

Leaving behind a legacy of laughter and well-kept grass, George is survived by his wife, the ever-patient Kelly Peters; his proudest achievements, Bridgette and Zachary Peters; his mother Geri Peters; his Sister Janet Sheridan and Brother Gregg Peters. George was preceded in death by his father, George Peters.

I never worked with George directly. His stories always made a good laugh. His laugh was contagious. Now you have final peace

I choose to remember George as a happy, family orientated, hard-working man. He always talked about his family and dogs with such joy. He surely was devoted to his family. Peace be with you my friend. Laurie Nielsen.

When I think of my Uncle George, it doesn´t matter how many years it has been, I can clearly hear his infectious laugh echoing in my head and I can visualize the look of joy and love and contentment on his face. He was full of life and a reminder to cherish the moments we have together. Especially remembering how much fun he was at my wedding. Holding the memories closer and more tenderly today.

I didn't have the pleasure of spending time with my uncle recently, but my fondest memory of him was his smile. When I think of him, an image of him turning and smiling a beaming smile is what always comes to mind. It was bright, and joyous, and full of humor.
