Although I have never met Dr. Petrides I have used his second edition of "A Field Guide to Trees & Shrubs" since I took a course from U of M Flint at For Mar Nature Preserve in 1974. I have used his book ever since to enhance my love & understanding of God's gift to us of beautiful wild trees & shrubs that grow naturally here in Michigan. I can't thank Dr. Petrides enough for simplifying this complicated subject for us.

It was very nice to meet you Mr. Petrides. I enjoyed the many stories you would tell me. My thoughts go out to your family, as you would talk of them ofen.

I will always cherish memories of your smile; you were a Professor and advisor who had a tremendous influence in my life. What I learned when I was with you in Michihan State changed me forever and made me a better person in life. Thank you for everything you have done for me.

Prof, you certainly had a profound, lasting and wonderful effect on my life. From a chance meeting in Malaysia's Taman Negara to your guidance through my academic years and in my nature conservation working life, you were always a presence. It was you who inspired me as my career unfolded here in Australia and internationally. You left a truly remarkable legacy with your work and through your students. I am immensely grateful. Thank you.

What a wonderful influence you had on my life. I could not have been more fortunate than to have you as my major professor. A blessing of blessings. I was proud to have known you. Your contributions for nature conservation and knowledge were without peer. Indeed I agree with Dr. Grassman you are a hard act to follow as to what you can accomplish in a long full, motivated life. Heaven will hold you.

Rest in Peace Dr. Petrides. Your life's work was exemplary and your contribution to the natural sciences will not be forgotten. May we all strive to imitate your example of what one can accomplish in a full life.
