My sincere condolences to Doreen and family. I first met George in early 2000, when our small start-up energy company was planning on drilling our very first well in east central Alberta. Over the phone we worked out a deal and George subsequently moved one of his single drilling rigs onto our site. I drove to the site and was somewhat surprised to learn that George, the owner of Camero Drilling, was on site ensuring that all his equipment was ready to drill. It didn't take me long to determine I was dealing with a very nice down to earth guy, who cared as much as I did. To my great surprise he brought out his infamous gas & Oil "witching" tool kit (which is somewhat analogous to a water well "witching" tool) and walked my entire well site and predicted that the formation we had been chasing using siesmic, was in fact present and would be productive. We spent a few days together at the site, had a few barbecues & got to know each other even better, while monitoring the drilling progress. He never once asked me about payment. We finished the well on time, with no problems. A few days later, the well was completed and tested at 4 mmcfd with minimal flowing tubing pressure drawdown.
We paid Camero's invoices in 30 days or less. It was note worthy that since we were a new small start-up company, other drilling contractors in the area wanted around 90% of their anticipated drilling cost money up front before they would move in their equipment.
We never forgot how Camero (George) treated us and thus Camero drill several more wells for us without any problems. Over the years I would see George off & on, such as the yearly COTS functions. One mourning, I got a call out of the blue. It was George asking If I would be interested in going with him out to our gas field to do some more "witching" on our lands. It was a great day and he incouraged me to write down details of his "Witching" results for our land. I will never forget George (Camero Drilling). Unfortunately, gentlemen like George are becoming a rare commodity. God bless you George & your whole family.
