George Stewart Obituary

STEWART, George McClelland, DDS - Passed away April 2, 2005 in Walnut Creek. Born April 14, 1915 in Pennsylvania, he would have turned 90 this week. Following high school he joined the Navy and then the Air Force serving in WWII. Upon completion of the war he graduated from UCSF Dental School and started his practice in San Carlos in 1952. He married Virginia Stewart, MD in June of 1953 and together they raised two daughters, Marion and Elizabeth. George served as past president in the San Mateo Dental Society and Kiwanis, Past Master in the Masonic Lodge, and one year on the San Mateo County Grand Jury. George was an avid golfer and a long time member at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club where he won several tournaments. George also enjoyed fishing, snorkeling and working in his vegetable garden. He and Virginia moved to Rossmoor in 2001 to be near their daughters who reside in Walnut Creek. His wife passed away six weeks before him on February 11. George is survived by his daughter Marion Armstrong, her husband Gregg and their triplets, Brendon, Jono and Laura, and daughter Elizabeth Bettis, her husband, Robert and their daughters, Allison and Emily, and a sister, Doris Edick.
