George Trimble Obituary
On January 3, 1963, he married the love of his life, Leona Norton, in Burlington, Vermont. They shared 51 years together before her passing in 2014. In 2015, he married Sandra Dixon, who predeceased him on April 14. George leaves behind his children Donna Sheppard (Tom), George Holden, Margaret, Rankin (Bill), Brian Trimble (Bridget), and Tina Trimble, as well as 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran who served 20 years in the US Air Force and then 20 civil service at NAS JAX. He retired as Master Sergeant. He was a lifetime member of VFW. He also loved playing the role of Santa Claus for area children's events.
The funeral mass will be held on Sept 14, 11 AM, at Sacred Heart Church, Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project of Jacksonville: 4899 Belford Rd, #300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

I have very vague memories of Uncle George from my childhood, but one memory as an adult stands out. I graduated from U.S. Army basic training in 1979. Unfortunately none of my family could make it to Ft. Leanard-Wood, MO for the ceremony. Seeing my fellow soldiers enjoying time with their visiting families made me feel sad that my family wasn't there.
My mother, Anne Marie Parks (Trimble), told me some time later that her brother George had traveled to Missouri to be at my graduation. But in all the chaos of thousands of soldiers and families on the base he was unable to see the ceremony or visit with me. I told Uncle George years later when I saw him that I will always be grateful that he made the attempt to see me graduate basic and begin my 21 year Army career. God bless George Trimble.

My 1st memory of Uncle George is at Nana Trimble's house where we went for many Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. One year he told me the story of how the Angel got on top of the Christmas tree, lifted me up and told me that I was his Angel on the top of the tree. As he grew in years he began to take on the appearance of a real world Santa Claus - all the way to the white hair and beard and of course the laughter. He was a bright light in the family and will be dearly missed.
